‘Given Me That Hunger’ – Exiting Lincoln City Player Reflects On Two Years At Sincil Bank

Zach Jeacock made an early summer exit from Lincoln City, joining Northampton Town on loan in League Two.

The 25-year-old is a promising prospect at the Bank, but has found his progress blocked by George Wickens. A loan makes sense, and he’s headed to Sixfields following their relegation from League One.

He’s given his first interview to Cobbler’s media this week, and in it, he pays tribute to the Imps for the past two seasons. Despite not playing many games, it feels like the big keeper has learned enough to now go and make a real difference at Northampton.

Regular minutes might help them towards promotion, but it’s also going to help us grow an asset, hopefully into a future number one for the Imps.

“I think when you go from not playing as many games to then playing every week, I think it’s going to be really beneficial for me,” he told their media.

“I also think that the past two years at Lincoln have really benefited me as well because it’s given me that hunger to want to go and play week in, week out.”

Jeacock has been on the bench a bit, but featured in the cup match against Chelsea, as well as having a solid run in the side at the start of 2025. It isn’t just about experience, as the former Birmingham City man explained: it’s also about people.

“Being around really good people, really good players: those two years where I’ve not played, I’ve learned a lot about myself, also about what to do when you are playing.

“I feel like I’m in a really good position now to be ready to go and do that.”

It’s likely Jeacock will be vying with Ross Fitzsimons for a place in the sticks for the Cobblers. He is a former Boston United loanee who spent time at Crystal Palace and Bolton without playing a game for either. After two seasons with Scunthorpe, he moved to Northampton and played 26 times last season, before losing his place to Lee Burge.

Burge has since departed Sixfields, which should give Jeacock the chance to stake a claim for regular minutes.
