Bristol City, Birmingham City and Millwall are all making Championship headlines this afternoon. There is plenty of movement across the division, with clubs shaping coaching teams, testing transfer valuations and planning for life in new surroundings.
Skubala Poised For Bristol City Staff Addition
Former Lincoln City head coach Michael Skubala is reportedly close to adding Ian Burchnall to his Bristol City staff, with Bristol Live reporting that the former Notts County and Forest Green Rovers boss is set to become his assistant at Ashton Gate.
Skubala left the Imps earlier this month to take charge of the Robins, and City are yet to officially confirm the make-up of his coaching team. Burchnall, who has also worked with Viking, Östersund, Anderlecht, Wolves, Jamaica and Aberdeen, now appears set for a key role.
Bristol City are also said to be interested in QPR first-team coach Steve Bould, who joined the Loftus Road staff last year after earlier spells with Arsenal and Lommel.
Skubala has already suggested the final staff structure will include a mix of new appointments and existing faces.
“We’re in a good place. That will be announced in the not too distant future, with the staff team.
“We’ll bring staff in, but again, when I came to Lincoln, I didn’t take any staff, which people find unusual, but I think I’m really good at developing people, the staff as well.”
His former Lincoln assistants, Chris Cohen and Tom Shaw, have remained at the Bank after being named as the Imps’ new joint head coaches.
