Championship Latest: Manchester United Eye Double Swoop, Southampton Man Could Make £20m Exit

West Ham Monitor Watford Winger Irankunda

West Ham United are keeping tabs on Watford winger Nestory Irankunda, according to Football Insider, as they prepare for life back in the Championship.

The Hammers are expected to reshape their squad after relegation from the Premier League, with Nuno Espirito Santo remaining in charge for the 2026/27 campaign. Irankunda has now emerged as one of the names on their radar as they look for attacking reinforcements.

The 20-year-old is currently away with Australia at the World Cup and scored in their opening win over Turkey, increasing his profile during the summer window. That exposure could make Watford’s task of keeping him more difficult, although the Hornets are protected by a long-term contract running until 2030.

Irankunda joined Watford last year after time with Adelaide United and Bayern Munich, and he has become an important player at Vicarage Road. He has made 42 appearances in all competitions, including 40 in the league, scoring four goals and registering five assists.

West Ham already have wide options, but Irankunda’s pace and directness would add another dimension if they move beyond initial interest. For Watford, the length of his deal means they do not have to rush into a sale, but a strong World Cup could change the level of interest around him.
