Preston Eye Plymouth Forward Tolaj
Preston North End are understood to be admirers of Plymouth Argyle striker Lorent Tolaj, with the forward on their summer list as Paul Heckingbottom looks for attacking reinforcements.
The Lilywhites are expected to strengthen at the top end of the pitch this summer, and Tolaj is thought to be high on the list if Milutin Osmajic leaves Deepdale. The Plymouth forward had an excellent season in League One, producing 26 goal contributions in 33 league appearances.
Tolaj scored 18 league goals and added eight assists, while also netting four times in the EFL Trophy. He joined Plymouth last summer after the Pilgrims triggered his £1.2million release clause at Port Vale, and he still has three years remaining on his contract.
A fee of around £3million has been suggested, which would make any deal significant business for Preston. The 24-year-old has also previously been linked with Leicester City, Stoke City, Celtic and Swansea City.
Plymouth boss Tom Cleverley addressed speculation around Tolaj and Aribim Pepple towards the end of last season, making it clear the club were under no immediate pressure.
Preston’s need for forwards could become more pressing if Osmajic moves on, with Heckingbottom facing a potentially busy summer in attack.
