Championship Latest: Spurs Interested In £50m Star, Brazilian Prospect Makes Norwich City Switch

Tottenham Linked With Crysencio Summerville

Tottenham Hotspur are reported to have made contact over a possible move for West Ham United winger Crysencio Summerville, with Manchester United also credited with interest.

The 24-year-old is expected to leave West Ham this summer following their relegation to the Championship. Reports suggest the Dutch winger could cost around £50 million, with both Spurs and Manchester United yet to follow up their interest with a formal offer.

Summerville managed five Premier League goals and two assists last season, despite West Ham struggling badly. He also caught the eye at the World Cup for the Netherlands, scoring against Japan and showing the pace and direct threat that made him one of the more interesting attacking players in the bottom half of the Premier League.

For Tottenham, the link makes sense in the context of a rebuild after a poor domestic campaign. Spurs finished 17th, and the wide areas are an obvious area for improvement, particularly after Xavi Simons spent time being used from the left rather than in a more natural central role.

Summerville would offer pace, flexibility and a more orthodox option from the flank. Manchester United can offer Champions League football, but Tottenham may be able to offer a clearer route to regular starts, which could become important if the race develops beyond initial contact.
