Championship Latest: Spurs Interested In £50m Star, Brazilian Prospect Makes Norwich City Switch

Norwich City making their first signing of the summer, and Tottenham being linked with a move for a relegated winger, are just some of today’s stories.

Norwich City Sign Bruno Alves On Loan

Norwich City have completed the signing of Brazilian defender Bruno Alves from Cruzeiro on a season-long loan…

The 20-year-old will officially join Norwich on July 1, subject to international clearance and approval from The FA and EFL. Alves is a Brazil Under-20 international and has come through the youth system at Cruzeiro, having previously played in the youth ranks at Grêmio Novorizontino.

He is yet to make his senior debut for Cruzeiro, but Norwich clearly feel there is enough potential to make an early move. Sporting director Ben Knapper said Alves is a player the club have tracked for some time, with the Canaries’ South American recruitment operation helping to get the deal completed.

“Whilst it will of course be a process for him to adapt to both our club and English football more broadly, he is an exciting talent with an extremely high ceiling.

“He is a player we have followed for a considerable amount of time.”

Alves also spoke positively about the move, saying he felt Norwich was the “perfect place” for the next stage of his career and that English football was important for his development. The deal gives Norwich a young defensive option with longer-term value, while also keeping the risk lower through the initial loan structure.
