Championship Latest: West Ham Complete £1m Deal, Wolves Set For £6.4m Transfer Windfall

Wolves Set For Meupiyou Windfall

Wolves could be in line for a major financial boost from Bastien Meupiyou’s next move, with O Jogo reporting Napoli are prepared to pay €15 million for the Alverca defender.

The 20-year-old left Wolves for Portugal last summer without making a senior appearance at Molineux, but the club retained 50% of his economic rights as part of the deal. If Napoli complete a transfer at the reported fee, Wolves would be due around €7.5 million, or roughly £6.4 million.

Meupiyou’s value has risen sharply after a strong season with Alverca, where he made 32 appearances and became one of the club’s key players. Napoli are now said to be leading the race, although Borussia Dortmund have also been credited with an offer worth €12 million, potentially rising to €17 million with bonuses.

That makes the situation a useful one for Wolves, regardless of where the defender ends up. They may no longer own him outright, but the retained clause means his progress in Portugal could still hand them a sizeable boost to their summer budget.
