Championship Latest: West Ham Complete £1m Deal, Wolves Set For £6.4m Transfer Windfall

Galatasaray Continue João Gomes Chase

Galatasaray are continuing their pursuit of João Gomes, with RTI Esporte claiming the Turkish club are prepared to pay around €40 million for the Wolves midfielder.

Atlético Madrid remain the side most strongly linked with Gomes, with reports suggesting a verbal agreement is already in place and that the Spanish club are working towards a deal worth around €45 million. Galatasaray, however, are not believed to have walked away while that transfer remains unfinished.

The Turkish champions can offer Champions League football, and they are reportedly hoping Wolves’ relegation to the Championship gives them an opening. Gomes is said to earn around €350,000 per month, a significant wage commitment for a club preparing for life outside the Premier League.

Wolves are therefore balancing the sporting value of keeping one of their best players against the financial benefit of a major sale and a reduced wage bill. Atlético may still be in pole position, but continued interest from Galatasaray could only strengthen Wolves’ hand if negotiations continue.
