Bellamy Burnley Move Reportedly Collapses
Craig Bellamy’s proposed move to Burnley has reportedly fallen through, with Wales Online reporting a major late twist in the Clarets’ managerial search.
Bellamy had looked set to leave his role as Wales head coach after Burnley agreed a compensation package with the Football Association of Wales, believed to be worth around £700,000. An official approach had been made last week, and talks were understood to have accelerated to the point where confirmation appeared close.
However, Sky Sports are cited as saying the move is now off, leaving Bellamy set to return to his Wales role. The former forward has two years remaining on his FAW contract, with Wales preparing for the next Nations League campaign and the longer-term build-up to Euro 2028.
The report states that the FAW had already been preparing for his possible departure, with Steve Cooper and Rob Edwards among those discussed as potential successors. Both are now said to be possible names in Burnley’s search, after the collapse of Bellamy’s expected appointment.
