Bristol City Move Ahead Of Portsmouth In Yah Race
Bristol City have moved ahead of Portsmouth in the race to sign FC Volendam midfielder Gibson Yah, according to All Nigeria Soccer.
Portsmouth had previously been reported to be in advanced discussions over a possible move for the Amsterdam-born defensive midfielder, but the latest claims suggest Bristol City have now taken control of the situation. The Robins are said to have reached a verbal agreement with both Volendam and the player, with Yah travelling to England for a medical ahead of a possible unveiling.
The report adds that Bristol City have identified Yah as a potential replacement for Sam Morsy, whose contract is due to expire on June 30. Yah only joined Volendam from Utrecht last summer, after earlier spells in the youth systems at DVC Buiksloot and Ajax, but his time with the Dutch club now appears likely to be brief if the medical is completed without issue.
Despite Volendam suffering relegation, Yah was a regular part of their Eredivisie campaign, starting 20 of their 34 league matches and also featuring in the Keuken Kampioen Play-Offs. A long-term contract is expected to be signed if the move goes through.
