Burnley, Swansea City, Middlesbrough and Norwich City all feature in today’s Championship round-up, with managerial movement at Turf Moor and transfer activity across the division.
Burnley Ready Clarke Talks After Bellamy Collapse
Burnley are ready to hold talks with Steve Clarke as they continue their search for a new manager, according to Football Insider.
The Clarets are looking to replace Scott Parker, who left the club by mutual agreement in April following their relegation from the Premier League. The report claims Burnley want to interview Clarke after his departure from the Scotland job, which followed their exit from the 2026 World Cup.
Craig Bellamy had appeared to be in line for the role earlier this month, but that move is said to have collapsed because no agreement could be reached over his backroom staff. With that deal failing to progress, Burnley are now expected to step up their search as they prepare for life back in the Championship.
Clarke, 62, had been in charge of Scotland since 2019 and led them to the 2026 World Cup, with qualification secured after a campaign that included a 4-2 win over Denmark in November. Scotland were drawn in Group C with Brazil, Morocco and Haiti, but collected three points and did not reach the knockout stages.
The report also states that Steve Cooper, Rob Edwards and Brian Barry-Murphy have been linked with the vacancy. Barry-Murphy has attracted interest elsewhere this summer after guiding Cardiff City to promotion from League One.
