Lincoln City have submitted plans for a temporary new stand at Sincil Bank as the club look to create more space for supporters following promotion to the Championship.
The application proposes adding around 250 seats to the north of the Greenlinc Renewables Stand, and with the current Imps Territory project, would help push capacity over 11,000. The structure would remain in place for up to three years and would sit entirely within the existing stadium footprint, where the temporary ‘bike shed’ was a few years ago.
The move comes after a sharp rise in demand around the club, with season-ticket sales reaching record levels and waiting lists now in operation for both general admission and hospitality. Promotion has clearly accelerated that pressure, but the application suggests this is not being viewed as a short-term spike, with City describing the increase in interest as sustained and demonstrable.
“The club has experienced unprecedented growth in supporter demand and commercial engagement.
“Season ticket sales have reached record levels, with waiting lists now established for both season tickets and hospitality lounge memberships.”
The additional seating is being presented as a relatively modest expansion rather than a major redevelopment, but it would still represent another visible step in the continued improvement of Sincil Bank. Planning documents argue that the stand would integrate with the existing infrastructure and help the stadium continue to operate as both a sporting venue and a wider community asset.
The stand itself is described as a lightweight, open steel-framed structure, reflecting its temporary purpose while remaining visually compatible with the rest of the stadium. The proposal relies on modular components which could be installed, maintained and, if necessary, removed without the level of work associated with a permanent structure.
The elevated seating area would remain open underneath, allowing air and light to pass through while preserving usable space beneath the deck. The application also suggests that temporary concession stands could be placed there to provide a ‘modest’ food and drink offering on matchdays.
There is currently no indication of when the stand could be ready, but the area has already been cleared. The plans have been submitted to the City of Lincoln Council under planning application 2026/0431/FUL and will be considered in early August, in the week before the season kicks off.
City have also submitted an application for a premises licence covering Sincil Bank under the Licensing Act 2003. The application includes permission for the supply of alcohol, plays, films, indoor sporting events, live music, recorded music, dance performances and late-night refreshment.
