The scorer of one of the most iconic Lincoln City goals of the last 20 years has joined Isthmian League Premier Division side Brentwood Town ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Midfielder Charlee Adams moves across Essex after ending last season with Chelmsford City, having initially joined the Clarets on loan from Hornchurch before completing a permanent switch. His new side reached the Isthmian League Premier Division play-off final last season, where they were beaten by Billericay in their bid for promotion to National League South.
“I’m glad to get everything sorted after speaking to the manager in the summer,” the 31-year-old said. “I’m really looking forward to the season ahead, and getting down to work with the boys.”
He will be remembered by Lincoln City supporters for two spectacular goals during his loan spells at Sincil Bank. Adams initially arrived from Birmingham City in January 2014, making 14 starts before returning for a second temporary spell in November of the same year.
The midfielder scored twice across his two periods with the Imps, with both efforts becoming memorable moments from a difficult era for the Imps. His audacious strike against Grimsby Town was particularly impressive, with Adams controlling the ball before sending an outstanding long-range effort beyond goalkeeper James McKeown.
He also found the net with another spectacular effort against Aldershot Town, finishing his time at Lincoln with two goals from 28 National League appearances. His performances made him a highly rated member of the squad before Birmingham recalled him in March 2015.
Adams had progressed through the academies at West Ham United and Birmingham, going on to make his senior debut for the latter in the FA Cup. After leaving Lincoln, he spent time on loan with Scottish Premiership side Kilmarnock before departing Birmingham permanently.
He subsequently established himself in the National League with Dagenham and Redbridge, Barnet and Maidenhead United. Adams made more than 100 appearances for Maidenhead before later representing Hornchurch and Chelmsford.
The experienced midfielder has also represented England C and will now look to help Brentwood challenge for promotion again after their play-off disappointment last season.
