Burnley Forward Armando Broja Wanted by Lazio
Lazio are reportedly attempting to sign Burnley striker Armando Broja on loan, with the Italian club seeking an option rather than an obligation to purchase him. Reports in Italy claim discussions have taken place over a possible move to Serie A.
Broja joined Burnley from Chelsea last summer in a deal worth around €23 million, but his first season at Turf Moor proved difficult. The Albania international managed one goal and two assists in 26 appearances as Burnley were relegated from the Premier League.
The 24-year-old is not believed to want to remain with the Clarets following their return to the Championship, although Burnley must also consider the financial implications of allowing him to leave. Reports from Albania have suggested a permanent transfer could require a package worth between €10 million and €12 million.
That valuation appears to be beyond Lazio’s immediate plans, leaving a temporary deal as the most realistic route. The Italian side are said to favour a season-long loan with an option to make the move permanent next summer, while Burnley would prefer to avoid being left with a depreciating asset.
Broja has regularly been linked with clubs in Italy during recent transfer windows without completing a move. Lazio’s interest could now provide both the player and Burnley with a solution, although the structure of any agreement is likely to be central to whether negotiations progress.
