Derby County Target Back on Market After Turkish Transfer Collapses
Senegal international Bamba Dieng is available again after withdrawing from a proposed move to Turkish side Amedspor, according to the latest Derby County reports.
The former Lorient striker had been expected to complete the transfer after negotiations reached an advanced stage, but the deal collapsed because of reported contractual issues. Dieng is now searching for another club following his departure from France, with Derby and Burnley among the Championship sides previously credited with an interest.
The 26-year-old scored 16 goals in 26 appearances last season, form which helped earn him a place in Senegal’s World Cup squad. His involvement at the tournament was limited to substitute appearances before Senegal were eliminated in the last 32, but his club record ensured he entered the summer with several potential options.
Reports have suggested that Dieng had reservations about dropping into the Championship, which may remain a significant obstacle for any interested English club. Derby are nevertheless still looking to strengthen their attacking options, with another striker and additional width thought to be among their priorities.
The Rams have already added Bobby Clark from RB Salzburg in a reported £6 million deal, while Charlie Taylor arrived following his release by Southampton. Filip Bilbija has also joined from Paderborn, and Derby continue to be linked with Ipswich Town forward Sam Szmodics after his loan spell at Pride Park last season.
Dieng’s availability gives Derby another possible route, but persuading him to embrace second-tier football may prove just as important as agreeing the financial terms.
