Former Lincoln City striker Tyler Walker has joined Cymru Premier side Penybont following his departure from Barrow.
The Welsh club have confirmed the arrival of the 29-year-old, who becomes their latest addition ahead of the new season. Walker was available as a free agent after being released by Barrow at the end of the 2025/26 campaign. He made 23 appearances in all competitions during his only season with the Bluebirds, scoring twice as they were relegated from League Two.
Penybont were formed in 2013 following the merger of Bridgend Town and Bryntirion Athletic and have played in the Cymru Premier since winning promotion in 2019. They have also become regular European qualifiers, competing in the UEFA Conference League this season and facing FC Santa Coloma in the first qualifying round. Walker will now join a club looking to build on that recent domestic and continental progress.
His move to Penybont represents a first experience of Welsh domestic football for the former England Under-20 international, who has spent the majority of his career in the EFL.
Tyler Walker at Sincil Bank
Walker is best remembered at Sincil Bank for the productive loan spell he enjoyed during the first half of the 2019/20 season. Danny Cowley brought him to the club from Nottingham Forest, describing the striker as a player who had been on City’s wish list for a long time.
He quickly demonstrated why, scoring 16 goals in 34 appearances across all competitions. Fourteen of those came in League One, with Walker proving particularly effective through his movement inside the penalty area and ability to finish chances first time.
His form prompted Forest to recall him in January 2020, bringing his season-long loan to a premature conclusion. He subsequently scored against Leeds United in the Championship before leaving the City Ground permanently for Coventry City later that year.
Walker returned to the Imps on a free transfer in July 2023, signing a two-year contract following his release by Coventry. The move appeared to offer City an established League One goalscorer who already understood the club, but his second spell was dominated by injury.
A hamstring problem limited him to only a handful of appearances during the opening months of the 2023/24 season, before a recurrence effectively ended his campaign. Walker eventually joined Wealdstone on loan in March 2025 as he attempted to rebuild his fitness and secure regular football.
He was released by City at the end of that season and moved to Barrow, where he scored against Notts County in August but struggled to establish himself consistently during a difficult campaign for the club.
Across his two spells with the Imps, Walker made 42 appearances and scored 16 goals in all competitions. Every one of those goals came during his original loan, which remains the period for which he will be most fondly remembered by City supporters.
Penybont finished second in the Cymru Premier last season, and Walker will now look to rediscover his scoring touch as he begins the latest chapter of his career.
