Dele Alli Training With West Ham
One of the more intriguing stories of the summer involves former Tottenham Hotspur and England midfielder Dele Alli, who is currently training with West Ham United as he attempts to resurrect his playing career.
The 30-year-old is a free agent after his brief spell with Como came to an end. His only competitive appearance for the Italian club arrived against AC Milan in March 2025, when he was introduced as a substitute before being sent off less than ten minutes later. It was his first competitive appearance in almost two years.
According to reports this week, Alli is now training with the Hammers as he looks to prove his fitness and potentially earn an opportunity in the Championship.
Former MK Dons and Salford City manager Karl Robinson recently encountered Alli while the midfielder was training in Marbella and believes there is still plenty of ability there if he can get himself back into regular football.
“I had about an hour just chatting to him, just bumped into him really. We spoke just about football in general, about how well he feels and how he wants to get himself back playing and how he seeks an opportunity.
“I think the problem you have in the modern world is social media governs an awful lot of our perception of them as a human being, first and foremost. We forget the fact he was and still is a talent.”
Alli won 37 England caps and was twice named PFA Young Player of the Year during his time with Tottenham, but his career has stalled considerably in recent years. Robinson believes the responsibility is now firmly on the midfielder to take advantage should West Ham offer him another route back into the professional game.
