Southampton Defender Makes National League Move
There has also been transfer activity involving one of Southampton’s young defenders, with Eastleigh taking Tommy Dobson-Ventura on loan ahead of the start of their National League season.
The 19-year-old centre-back captained Southampton’s under-21 side last season and made 25 appearances before signing a new one-year contract with his boyhood club. He was also included in the Saints squad which travelled to Germany for a pre-season training camp.
Eastleigh have now moved to give him regular senior football, with the loan move confirmed alongside three other additions before their opening fixture against Gateshead.
“I live round the corner so I used to come watch a lot of games. Now being able to play for the club, I am really excited!”
Former Southampton goalkeeper Josh Jeffries has also joined Eastleigh permanently after spending time with the club on trial, while Dion Rankine and Nelson Khumbeni have arrived on loan from Crewe Alexandra and Gillingham respectively.
Dobson-Ventura has previously represented England at under-16 and under-17 level, and his move into the National League should provide a first sustained taste of senior football as Southampton continue to monitor his development.
