Hull Rebuffed in Vipotnik Pursuit
Hull City have reportedly seen a bid for Swansea City striker Zan Vipotnik rejected by the Swans as they prepare for life in the Premier League.
The Slovenia international enjoyed an excellent campaign last season, scoring 23 times in the Championship and 25 goals across 49 appearances in all competitions.
Hull’s opening offer is said to have fallen below Swansea’s valuation, although their interest could continue as Sergej Jakirovic looks to strengthen his attacking options. Oli McBurnie was a key figure in their promotion campaign, but further firepower is likely to be required after their step up to the top flight.
Owner Acun Ilicali has already spoken about the change in the type of player Hull are now able to pursue following promotion.
“The players we are dealing with are now bigger and bigger budget and quality players. It’s a completely different motivation.”
Vipotnik’s goalscoring record makes him an obvious candidate for Premier League attention, although Swansea are under no immediate pressure to accept Hull’s opening proposal. The Tigers begin their season at home to Manchester United on August 22, leaving time for further movement before their return to the top flight.
