Middlesbrough Defender Set For Blackpool
Middlesbrough defender Finley Munroe is reportedly heading for Blackpool after the clubs agreed a loan move for the 21-year-old.
Munroe is understood to be undergoing a medical ahead of joining the League One side, having made just three senior appearances since arriving at the Riverside.
The left-back joined Middlesbrough permanently from Aston Villa in January after impressing during a loan spell at Swindon Town. Boro handed him a four-and-a-half-year contract, but regular first-team football has been difficult to find and a temporary switch to Bloomfield Road should offer him valuable senior minutes.
Munroe made a strong impression during his previous EFL loan, with then-Swindon boss Ian Holloway particularly complimentary about the defender.
“He’s a wonderful lad, what a great strike and that’s talent isn’t it. You know, he’s just got abundance of it and it’s about making him enjoy himself and for as long as we have him I’m delighted that he’s here.”
The proposed move would give Munroe the opportunity to continue his development in League One while remaining part of Middlesbrough’s longer-term plans. For Blackpool, it would add another young defender with EFL experience to their squad ahead of the new season.
