Skubala Adds Palace Defender
Former City boss Michael Skubala has continued his summer rebuild at Bristol City by signing Rio Cardines on a season-long loan from Crystal Palace.
The 20-year-old becomes Bristol City’s ninth addition of the summer and can operate at right-back or wing-back. He made his Premier League debut against Arsenal last season and has already collected 11 senior caps for Trinidad and Tobago, having represented them at youth level before making his senior bow in 2025.
Cardines also made a European appearance for Palace during their UEFA Conference League-winning campaign, although his senior club experience remains limited. It is another young, athletic addition for Skubala, whose recruitment at Ashton Gate has naturally been worth keeping an eye on after his departure from Sincil Bank following our promotion.
“He will add quality both defensively and going forward,” said the former Imps boss.
