Championship Roundup: West Brom Target Man United Talent, Bolton Wanderers Plan More Signings

Middlesbrough Allow Goalkeeper To Leave

There has been a departure from Middlesbrough just days after City opened their Championship campaign at the Riverside, with goalkeeper Seny Dieng leaving the club.

The 31-year-old has joined Greek Super League side Atromitos after Boro agreed to terminate his contract by mutual consent, as reported by the Hartlepool Mail.

Dieng joined Middlesbrough from Queens Park Rangers in 2023 and went on to make 52 Championship appearances for the club. He had initially been a regular on Teesside before losing his place during the 2024/25 season, with an Achilles injury subsequently requiring surgery.

He returned to action during a brief loan spell with Sheffield Wednesday last season, but with the goalkeeper entering the final year of his Boro contract, a permanent separation always appeared possible this summer.

Middlesbrough confirmed:

“Everyone at MFC thanks Seny for his service and wishes him well for the future.”

His departure does not alter the picture City encountered on Saturday, but it is another piece of business completed by a club who demonstrated at the weekend just how much quality Championship sides are able to call upon.
