Championship Roundup: West Brom Target Man United Talent, Bolton Wanderers Plan More Signings

West Brom Want Collyer Back

West Brom’s business may not stop with Dlamini, with the Baggies also reportedly working on a permanent move for Manchester United midfielder Toby Collyer.

According to Sky Sports, talks are under way over taking the 22-year-old back to The Hawthorns after he spent part of last season there on loan.

Collyer came through Brighton and Hove Albion’s academy before moving to Manchester United, eventually progressing into their senior squad. He joined West Brom on loan last season before injury brought that spell to an early end, after which he spent the latter part of the campaign with Hull City.

With the midfielder now in the final year of his Manchester United contract, Albion appear to see an opportunity to bring back a player they already know.

The move would further underline the direction Morrison is taking at The Hawthorns. Albion have increasingly looked towards younger players with development and resale potential this summer, rather than filling the squad exclusively with established Championship performers.

Collyer would fit that approach particularly well. He is predominantly a defensive midfielder, already has experience of this level and, at 22, still has plenty of scope to develop.

Should a deal be completed, it would represent another interesting addition to a West Brom squad that already appears considerably different to the one which spent much of last season looking nervously towards the bottom three.
