The Championship transfer market is showing no sign of slowing down, with plenty happening elsewhere in the division as clubs continue to shape their squads following the opening weekend.
West Brom Snap Up Blackburn Youngster
West Bromwich Albion have moved to add another promising young player to James Morrison’s squad, signing winger Nathan Dlamini following his departure from Blackburn Rovers.
The youngster rejected the offer of a new contract at Ewood Park before agreeing a two-year deal with the Baggies, according to the Lancashire Telegraph. He made five senior appearances for Blackburn last season across the Championship and FA Cup after progressing through their academy.
Dlamini previously spent time with Aston Villa and Walsall as a youngster, and the move takes him back to an area he knows particularly well. He grew up in Darlaston, close to The Hawthorns, and believes Albion can offer him the opportunity to establish himself properly in senior football.
“I think there’s a pathway here, a good platform, and I want to come here and kickstart my professional career. I had a taste of it last season at Blackburn and now I want it more consistently.”
It fits the profile of much of West Brom’s recruitment under Morrison, with Albion looking towards younger players who could develop alongside the first-team squad.
Dlamini describes himself as a quick and explosive winger capable of playing on either flank, and while he arrives with relatively little senior experience, the Baggies clearly see enough potential to take advantage of his contract situation.
