Andrés Jaramillo, Colombia
Good morning. My name is Andrés Jaramillo and I’m from Cali, Colombia.
I became a fan of the Imps thanks to FIFA, where I learnt a little about the team. I liked Lincoln because of the similarity in the colours and badge to the club I support here in Colombia, América de Cali, who are also known as ‘Los Diablos’.
I began to feel a connection when I started following the club’s social media accounts and paying more attention to what was happening within the squad. However, what really made me feel connected was the support the fans showed for two players in particular, Ethan Erhahon and Ethan Hamilton.
It isn’t easy to follow the Imps in Colombia because football outside the Premier League isn’t particularly popular here. Occasionally, Championship matches are shown, so the advantage of Lincoln’s promotion is that I will now be able to watch some of their games.
Previously, because I had nowhere to watch the matches, my routine was basically to follow the club’s Instagram account and wait for updates. I would love to watch the games with other supporters and form a small Lincoln City fan club in Colombia, or at least in my city.
I would like to bring some of Lincoln City’s culture here, given the similarities with my local club. Why not bring a little of América de Cali’s culture to Lincoln as well?
As a very recent supporter, my favourite memory was the promotion to the Championship. I was absolutely delighted when it happened.
My club back home is a sleeping giant, ha ha ha. América de Cali are a club with a huge following.
