Former Lincoln City midfielder Bohan Dixon has joined a remarkable collection of former Premier League players and international stars at Wythenshawe FC Veterans.
The 36-year-old has been named in the club’s squad for the 2026/27 season alongside former England striker Emile Heskey, ex-Manchester United captain Antonio Valencia and eight-time Olympic champion Usain Bolt.
Wythenshawe Veterans play in the Cheshire Veterans Football League, with their home fixtures staged at the Avensure Community Stadium. The team are managed by former Manchester City and Republic of Ireland midfielder Stephen Ireland.
Their squad would not look out of place at a high-profile charity match. Former Newcastle United striker Papiss Cissé, Premier League winners Joleon Lescott and Marc Albrighton, and former top-flight players Adrian Mariappa, Maynor Figueroa, Nedum Onuoha and Martyn Waghorn have all been included.
Former Manchester United defender and current City coach Paul McShane is also a squad member, while ex-West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Keiren Westwood and former Everton striker Baye Niasse are also among the familiar names. Further additions are reportedly expected as Wythenshawe continue assembling one of the most recognisable veteran squads in the country.
Bolt’s involvement provides the team with its biggest attraction. The Jamaican retired from athletics in 2017 after winning eight Olympic gold medals and setting world records over 100 and 200 metres. He subsequently explored the possibility of becoming a professional footballer, training with Borussia Dortmund and appearing for Australian club Central Coast Mariners.

Bohan Dixon joined the Imps in July 2013 after being released by Accrington Stanley, signing a one-year contract following a trial period at Sincil Bank. He played for Lincoln during the 2013/14 Conference Premier campaign, making 33 appearances in all competitions and scoring four goals. Three of those goals came across 29 league appearances.
He left City after a single season and subsequently represented Northwich Victoria, Salford City, Stalybridge Celtic, AFC Fylde, Halifax Town, Stockport County and Ashton United. Dixon later enjoyed a lengthy spell with Warrington Town, helping them win promotion through the Northern Premier League play-offs in 2023.
A brief move to Macclesfield followed in February 2024 before he returned to Warrington later that year. Dixon joined Lower Breck in 2026 and will now combine that commitment with his place in Wythenshawe’s extraordinary veterans squad.
The former Imp may have shared a dressing room with plenty of experienced players during his long non-league career, but lining up alongside an Olympic icon, former internationals and Premier League champions should provide an entirely different experience.
