Lincoln City suffered a difficult evening on the south coast as Premier League Bournemouth brought the Imps’ Carabao Cup campaign to an end with a 4-0 victory. but a debutant was named your Man of the Match.
Ryan Christie scored a hat-trick for the Premier League side before Rayan added a fourth in stoppage time. It was a sobering evening for a much-changed Imps side, although there were still opportunities for several summer arrivals to gain valuable minutes against high-level opposition.

Ogbene made his first start for Lincoln City after joining on loan from Ipswich late in the transfer window. He was used both centrally and from the right during a demanding evening in which Bournemouth controlled possession and limited the service reaching City’s attacking players.
The Republic of Ireland international completed 14 of his 17 passes and competed in 32 duels, winning ten. He was involved in 19 offensive duels, although he won only four, which underlined the physical challenge presented by Bournemouth’s defenders. He was also fouled twice and made one progressive run.
It was not a match in which Ogbene was given many opportunities to demonstrate his pace in dangerous areas. He registered just one touch inside the Bournemouth penalty area and did not manage a shot, but he continued working against strong opposition and completed the full game.
Ryley Towler finished narrowly behind him on 6.17. The defender was the only player retained from the side that faced Southampton and made several important interventions, including a first-half clearance when Ben Gannon-Doak found David Brooks inside the area.
Daniel Oyegoke placed third with 5.79 on his Lincoln City debut, but earned a Man of the Match shout from me, while Yunus Konak and Callum Elder completed the top five following a difficult night on the south coast.
