The defender was missing from the squad as the Imps fell to a 3-0 defeat against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane this afternoon. Dom Jefferies came into the starting XI in his absence, with City unable to build on a promising opening half an hour as the hosts took control of the contest.
Speaking after the game, Chris Cohen confirmed that Coubiș had undergone a scan on his knee, but the results had provided some reassurance.
“He just needed a little scan on his knee, which has come back fine,” he told written press after the game.
“On Thursday, when I think I spoke to you, we had a clean bill of health and then ended up obviously losing a couple late over the last couple of days, but hopeful to have him back for the West Ham game.”
That fixture comes on Wednesday evening, with City facing one of the biggest games of their season as the recently relegated Hammers visit Sincil Bank.

With two matches coming in quick succession, Chris will be hoping to have as many options available as possible. He also revealed that Coubiș was not too far away from being involved at Bramall Lane, but the coaching staff were unwilling to take any unnecessary risks.
“Andrei, we’re really hopeful, will be fit for Wednesday. There’s probably a chance, if we really wanted to push it, he could have been involved today, but we’re not going to do that, especially after the last few weeks that he’s had.
“So hopefully we’ll have a clean bill of health on Wednesday night.”
Coubiș arrived from AC Milan during the summer in a deal that briefly made him Lincoln City’s record signing, before Mikkel Ladefoged arrived at the club and saw that record broken again.
The Romanian international has quickly become an important part of City’s defensive options, and his potential return for Wednesday’s clash would provide Chris and Tom Shaw with another welcome selection option.
