17 November 2007: Ollie Ryan (27) Wycombe Wanderers, 0-1
An opportunity to open his City account was followed almost immediately by a straight red for Ollie Ryan at Adams Park. After failing to connect with Scott Kerr’s delivery, the forward launched into a two-footed, studs-up challenge on Will Antwi. Graham Salisbury dismissed him in the 27th minute, leaving the struggling Imps to play more than an hour with ten men.
Martin Bullock struck the bar soon after the dismissal before Scott McGleish gave Wycombe a 39th-minute lead, tapping in Gary Holt’s pass. City stayed within reach, but Lee Frecklington headed a promising second-half opportunity over and they could not find an equaliser. The 1-0 defeat left the Imps bottom, still the only League Two side yet to reach double figures for points.
8 December 2007: Gary Croft (9) Hereford United, 1-3
An assistant referee’s flag turned an early goalmouth scramble into a double blow for City at Edgar Street. Gary Croft was judged to have handled to deny a goalscoring opportunity, prompting Danny McDermid to award a penalty and show the defender a straight red after nine minutes. Theo Robinson converted, leaving the Imps a goal behind and facing more than 80 minutes with ten men.
Lee Frecklington levelled in the 21st minute, tapping into an empty net after Wayne Brown dropped a corner. Trent McClenahan restored Hereford’s lead with a strike from the edge of the box just before half-time, and midfielder Ben Smith added a third late on. Louis Dodds struck a post as City sought a consolation, but their efforts brought no further reward in a 3-1 defeat.
