2019: Swindon Town 2-2: Bruno Andrade (34), Jason Shackell (55)

City retained top spot in League Two after a dramatic 2-2 draw at Swindon Town on 12 January 2019, scoring twice with ten men before eventually having to protect their lead with nine. Jason Shackell opened the scoring after 39 minutes, before Shay McCartan struck a magnificent first-time effort from 30 yards just before the interval. Michael Doughty pulled one back from the penalty spot in the 55th minute and equalised with two minutes remaining as Swindon’s pressure finally told. Josh Vickers made several important saves, while Michael Bostwick’s stoppage-time clearance off the line ensured the hosts could not complete the turnaround.

Bruno Andrade was first to be dismissed, receiving his marching orders in the 34th minute following an off-the-ball clash with Kyle Knoyle while the game was still goalless. City’s response was outstanding, with both goals arriving before half-time despite the numerical disadvantage. Shackell, already booked in the 23rd minute, then received a second yellow immediately after Doughty’s penalty as the players prepared for the restart, leaving the Imps facing 35 minutes plus stoppage time with nine men.

It was also the day we got our dog, Charlie. Lovely memories.
