Lincoln City will not face former loan forward Alfie Lloyd when we travel to Queens Park Rangers on Saturday.
The 23-year-old, who helped the Imps win the League One title last season, is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
According to West London Sport, Lloyd appears to have suffered a hamstring tear during QPR’s 4-1 defeat at Southampton last weekend. He had come off the bench at St Mary’s before being forced off himself, with the report suggesting he faces at least a couple of months out.
Head coach Julien Stephan confirmed the seriousness of the setback when speaking on Monday, indicating that Lloyd could struggle to return before 2027.
“It’s a long-term injury. It will probably be difficult for him to come back before the end of the year.”
The Southampton appearance was Lloyd’s ninth of the campaign for the R’s, having returned to his parent club following his spell at Sincil Bank. He had scored in their recent 4-1 home victory against Derby County, but now faces an extended interruption to his season.

Lloyd joined us on 19 January, arriving after QPR recalled him from a loan spell at Leyton Orient. He had made 12 appearances for the London club during the first half of the 2025/26 campaign before switching to our promotion push.
He went on to make 19 league appearances for City, scoring once as we secured the League One championship. His goal came against Stockport County on 14 March, when he grabbed our third in a 3-1 victory.
That spell added a title medal to the forward’s career, which began at hometown club Yeovil Town before a move to QPR in 2021. He also spent time on loan at Eastleigh before his two League One moves last season.
Saturday would have offered Lloyd the chance to face his former teammates in the Championship, but that reunion will have to wait. Hopefully, the forward can make a full recovery and get back to playing as soon as possible.
