Lincoln City fell to a 1-0 defeat at Watford, with a goal early in the second half settling a tight game and the throw-in decision leading to it, leaving the Imps frustrated.
The Stacey West fans’ panel is a collection of supporters giving their opinions on the latest game. Here, three of our Patreon panellists reflect on the defeat at Vicarage Road, our lack of creativity and the experience of following City on the road.

Paul Allinson
“Predicted a one-goal win, but not that way round! I expected a tight game of few goals and, to be honest, the first half played out exactly as I expected.
“I then hoped we would frustrate Watford and push on, as seen at Bolton and Preston. However, big moments change games and, 30 seconds into the second half, one did! Ignoring the throw-in issue, we just should not be conceding from there, but instead left Mavididi in acres of space to score. That’s what top players will do.
“From there, we pushed forward but created no real clear-cut opportunities. Credit to Watford, who apparently were vulnerable to aerial attacks and set pieces, but defended admirably, especially Mattie Pollock.
“The lack of flair or creativity is becoming a real concern as opponents set up to nullify our threat. Overall, very disappointing to lose a game neither side really deserved to win. Work to do, with more games against clubs around us in the table coming up after the international break.”
Jo Bigger
“I predicted a Lincoln 2-1 win. Well, I got the Watford score right.
“I liked Vicarage Road. Before the game, Watford were being seen as easy points. However, the ground highlighted that, despite the turmoil, Watford are an established Championship club.
“At 0-0 at half-time, I was surprised the score was as high as zero. Two poor teams creating nothing. At half-time, I was thinking: a point away from home, take that.
“Then the ref’s throw-in debacle, Watford 1-0 up, with us offering nothing. A bad day at the office, with how disjointed we were and our execution of set pieces being particularly disappointing. We move on…
“On a positive note, a big thank you to the stewards. Due to an accident on the M1, I was late, too late even for a pre-game Bovril. The stewards were fantastic, showing me in and giving me a choice of seats. I appreciated that.
“UTIs.”

“That had us all singing ‘I guess that’s why they call it the blues’ as we left Vicarage Road last night.
“If you’re looking for positives, well, I’ll be getting +3 points after a bright flash of light illuminated my car on the M1 northbound last night!
“As for the game, sometimes you just have to admit you got it wrong. Watford were there for the taking, but 100% effort sometimes isn’t enough. You have to convert the effort into application. If we ‘believe’ in ourselves, it’ll come good eventually.
“It’s ‘never too late’ to turn things around, and there were plenty of Imps ‘still standing’ and applauding the effort at the end. After all, it’s not a ‘part-time love’ we have for the Imps, is it?
“Keep the faith, see you all at QPR.
“P.S. The Fruit Pastille challenge was cancelled due to an unfortunate medical situation. Get well soon, mate.”
