The Arsenal Connection: Who Might We See Here Next Season?

Whilst chatting to Clive Nates and Liam Scully the other week, the complexity of the loan market was revealed to Ben and me.

The clubs sending players out on loan have to be assured their prospects are going to get regular football and in the case of Tyreece John-Jules, we had to go and make a presentation at the Emirates in which we outlined our model, what our club was all about and how we could help their young talent progress.

My understanding is that Jez George impressed them immensely with his passion and commitment to their young talent. We didn’t lean on just going there in the FA Cup a few seasons ago. It might have seemed that relationships like that lead to talent coming in, look at Callum Connolly coming from Everton for instance, but these big sides need to know where their players will be best served.

I understand that we will be in pole position for the same sort of hook up next season. Once a player comes to a club and his parent team are impressed, the gateway is then open for future deals between the two. Tyreece is getting regular football, I think when he is fit he is our best option in the number nine role and Arsenal will want that for him. They’ll want to see him getting kicked about a bit, bagging a goal, even missing a few and building his character.

Arsenal are an interesting side in terms of their academy. Over the last couple of seasons, a few of their players have gone on and done incredibly well, even after leaving the club. Krystian Bielik sticks in my mind for his performances at Charlton, plus Marc Bola who left the Gunners and was a massive success at Blackpool. This season, Ben Sheaf is impressing at Doncaster after heading out on loan to Stevenage last season.

My belief that we’ll see another Arsenal youngster next season was fuelled by a tweet from Chief Scout Marc Tracy, who went off to watch the Gunners’ Under 23 side a week or so ago. It seems to me that Tyreece is the first deal between the two clubs, but far from the last.

Which players might we benefit from next season? I’ve been scouring their Under 23 setup, looking at the players they currently have out on loan, and have come up with a list of possible suspects. Enjoy.

  1. “The clubs sending players out on loan have to be assured their prospects are going to get regular football”.

Assurance are one thing, the reality might be different. Do we know why TJ Eyoma is not playing?

  2. Always plenty of talented players in Arsenal youth teams.. It would be nice if clubs will continue good relationship and we can land one of those talents here.
We were bit unlucky this year with TJJ but next time it might work out better for us.
