Best Team Display – Plymouth Argyle (A) 8.28

They were the Champions-elect, a team holding off Sheffield Wednesday and Ipswich in their quest for Championship football. We were the mid-table also-rans, aiming for a point and a bit more credibility against a top side. We have a knack for turning over the top teams as they’re en route to titles and promotions; I recall us doing it in 1987 (for one), and in 1992. I’m sure there’s more, but this win will rank right up there with the best of them.

Shodipo and House got the goals, the whole team got the plaudits, and we got a memorable result against a very good team. Interestingly, the second-highest-rated performance of the season was our 1-1 draw with Plymouth at Sincil Bank. Perhaps the Pilgrims bring out the best in us.
