Lincolnshire Non-League Results Roundup

There were plenty of Lincolnshire teams in action this weekend, although a couple of games didn’t go ahead.

Gainsborough Trinity were left frustrated as their fixture was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, another interruption in a season that has already been disrupted by the weather. Stamford’s match was also postponed once again due to a waterlogged pitch, adding further congestion to their fixture schedule.

Boston United

In the National League, Boston United slipped to a 2-0 home defeat against Aldershot Town, with goals from Hill and Widdrington giving the visitors a commanding half time lead.

United struggled to wrestle momentum back after the break in front of just over 2,000 fans, and the result leaves them edging closer to the bottom four. Aldershot are currently the only side around them to have played the same number of games, with others holding matches in hand.

Lincoln United

Lincoln United’s difficulties continued with a 3-0 defeat away at Matlock Town. The new management team were handed a tough afternoon, made harder when United were reduced to 10 men in the second half. The Whites remain a point clear of the relegation places but face a challenging period ahead.

Boston Town were held to a 0-0 draw away at Grantham Town in a top-of-the-table clash. Grantham’s manager had brought players in for extra training during the week following last weekend’s defeat, but chances were limited in a tight contest. Boston Town remain top, while Grantham drop to fourth.

Skegness Town and Melton Town played out a goalless draw, with few clear opportunities throughout. Skegness came closest to snatching victory late on but were unable to convert. Sleaford Town edged out Clipstone 1-0, the third meeting between the sides this season, after each had previously recorded a win apiece.

Spalding United were involved in an entertaining 3-3 draw with Real Bedford. Spalding fell behind early, rallied to lead 2-1, then had to respond again to earn a point in a genuinely end-to-end encounter.
