Lincoln City Academy Graduate Named In Team of the Season

Former Lincoln City midfielder Morgan Worsfold-Gregg continues to build an impressive post-Sincil Bank chapter of his career after being named in the Philadelphia Soccer Six Top XI for the 2025 season with Drexel Dragons men’s soccer.

Worsfold-Gregg was one of three Drexel players recognised by league coaches, alongside Junor Tiago Lima-Bittencourt and freshman Jack Shannon, in an end-of-season honour that reflects both individual excellence and collective progress for the Dragons.

For those who followed his development at City, the recognition will perhaps come as a surprise. Worsfold-Gregg led Drexel in points during the 2025 campaign, finishing with 11 overall, and enjoyed a particularly productive run in September when he recorded a goal or assist in six consecutive matches.

Operating from midfield, he logged 1,237 minutes across the season and posted an impressive 66.7 per cent shot-on-goal rate, highlighting a growing maturity and end product to his game. Jus as aisde, those stats do feel very Americanised, don’t they?

His progress in the United States follows a formative spell with the Imps, where he was among a group of young players trusted with senior opportunities during Michael Appleton’s tenure. A product of Arsenal’s academy before arriving in Lincoln, the London-born midfielder signed his first professional contract with City in March 2022, having already been a regular presence in the under-18 and under-21 set-ups.

His senior debut came in the EFL Cup, featuring in a 3-0 win away at Doncaster Rovers, and his development pathway was shaped by a series of non-league loans designed to expose him to the physical and tactical demands of men’s football. He began with Gainsborough Trinity in the Northern Premier League, making eight appearances, before a short spell at AFC Rushden & Diamonds, where he added six more league outings.

Further experience followed at Cleethorpes Town in the Northern Premier League Division One East, and later at Long Eaton United in the Southern League. It was during that final loan that his attacking influence from midfield began to shine through, capped by a goal in seven appearances.

Now, with a standout collegiate season behind him and conference-wide recognition to match, Worsfold-Gregg’s trajectory continues to point firmly upward in the US. For Imps’ supporters who watched him take his first senior steps at Sincil Bank, his inclusion in the Philadelphia Soccer Six Top XI is another reminder that former Imps are making their mark well beyond League One, and doing so in style.
