Six Former Lincoln City Players Doing Surprisingly Well After Leaving The Imps

Aaron Lewis always seemed a bit different. He had a flamboyance about him off the field, well known for bad tracksuits and fashion choices. When he played, fans liked him, but his involvement was always minimal. A former staff member told me Lewis shared a house with another player, a big hope for the future, and that player was moved out so the bad influence didn’t rub off. The said player moved for six figures, Lewis was shown the door with just two league outings (and a goal) to his name.

He kicked his heels in Newport for a bit, then seemingly taking him down to the National League, but he rebuilt his reputation and they turned out to be plucky battlers. He then moved to Mansfield Town, where he is now a stalwart for them, still making those odd fashion choices, a moustache and a perm, but effective and controlled. Maybe he’s grown up, maybe Michael Appleton had him all wrong, but he has proven himself to be a solid League One player.

I always smile when I see him doing well, because he was very much on the fringes here, but I like a success story, a battle against the odds, and he’s proven his worth with the Stags.
