Luke Plange

Believe me, no player I have ever seen at the Bank convinced me they’d be non-league after their Sincil Bank spell like Luke Plange. His time with us was horrible, and when you consider at the time he was top of a list of potential loans that included Mason Burstow and Sinclair Armstrong, he flopped harder than a Las Vegas poker dealer.
He wasn’t just poor, he was terrible. I can’t recall one good thing he did at City. He was playing in a Mark Kennedy side, which never created chances, but in 640 minutes of football he had one shot on target, and that was a header from a corner that went up, over and down for the keeper to catch easily.
When he left, I had zero doubt he’d be tumbling into League Two, then maybe a team like Wealdstone in the National League. Instead, he has 12 goal involvements for a top-flight Swiss team, Grasshoppers. He has three goals and an assist in his last five matches, and last season he played European football for Finnish side HJK.
Okay, the Swiss league might not seem huge, but the latest Opta rankings rate it as the 22nd best in the world, ahead of the SPFL, League One, 2. Bundesliga and the top flights of Greece, Mexico, Czechia and Sweden. Not bad for a shot-shy striker who was awful for us.
