Cohen Bramall

I was guilty of woefully undervaluing Cohen. He had the technical ability, pace, but the end product, for me, was always lacking. He was never going to displace the likes of Tayo Edun, and when Tayo went, he didn’t have what it takes to fill in as a left back. He’s a left wing-back, or an attacking left-sided player, but defensively, for me, he struggled.
I had him down for a move to League Two when, out of nowhere, Rotherham took him. He played 75 times for them in the Championship, then 12 times for Portsmouth at the same level. Even now, he’s with the League One big spenders, Luton, and has played a key role for them, albeit in a miserable season by their budget standards.
Still, for a player I earmarked as maybe sloping off to Tranmere with one trick (pace) and nothing more, he’s done outstandingly well to carve out a career. I’m also delighted, because he was just such a nice lad, really grounded and down to earth.
