Injuries, returns and long-term planning are shaping the latest League One headlines as clubs head into the Easter run-in.
As City prepare to take on Wimbledon on what could be a huge day for the club, other teams across the division are shaping their squads. Whether that is returning players, departing ones, or plans for next season, there is never a dull day in League One.
Fawunmi’s loan spell ends after hamstring setback
Favour Fawunmi has returned to Stoke City after a hamstring injury cut short his loan spell at Leyton Orient.
The 19-year-old winger picked up the injury in Orient’s 2-0 win over Wycombe Wanderers on 21 March and is now back at Clayton Wood for treatment. It brings a frustrating early finish to what had been a useful loan for a young player getting his first proper taste of League One football.
Fawunmi made seven appearances after joining late in the January window, and Orient manager Richie Wellens was clearly sorry to lose him, saying:
“We’re disappointed to see Favour’s time with us cut short. He has impressed me with his ability and his character shown as a young man.
“He’s a very talented player and I’d like to wish him all the best for the future, one that I’m sure will be very successful.”
