Northampton set to give fringe players chance
Northampton Town interim boss Colin Calderwood has hinted that fringe players could be handed opportunities in the final weeks of the season.
With relegation looming, Calderwood is considering changes to his side as he looks to assess his squad ahead of a likely League Two campaign.
“We have a semblance of a structure and that has given us moments in games but it’s not enough so we have to try a bit of variation and maybe give an opportunity to those players who haven’t played, “Whoever has played up to now, we’re all culpable for being in this position and it’s up to us to amend that.”
A number of players, including Ben Hammond, Michael Forbes and Tyrese Fornah, have struggled for consistent minutes in recent months, while Elliott List could return from injury in the coming fixtures.
Although relegation is not yet mathematically confirmed, results elsewhere mean it could be sealed soon, leaving the Cobblers focused on restoring pride and evaluating their options moving forward.
