Jack Vale doesn’t really like Sincil Bank. He had a disappointing spell with Lincoln City under Mark Kennedy and was later sent back to Blackburn Rovers by Michael Skubala.
Most recently, he came back to the Bank as part of Kevin Nolan’s Northampton Town side, but was sent off for a challenge in the box with the scoreline 2-0 to City. We went on to win 4-0, Kevin Nolan was sacked, and Northampton were relegated.
Vale is now one of eight players released by the Cobblers as they face up to life in League Two. Jack Burroughs, another former City loanee, has been retained for next season, but Vale goes along with the likes of Tom Eaves and Jordan Willis.
However, there is a caveat, an asterisk next to the name that gives him a little hope. Colin Calderwood has offered some players fresh terms; Sam Hoskins is one such player, but a new manager is due in. The asterix next to Vale, and Michael Jacobs, says that the club do have an option on the pair, which can be considered once a new manager is appointed.

Jack Vale came through the youth ranks with The New Saints before joining Blackburn Rovers, where he signed professional terms and made his senior debut in the Championship. Opportunities at the first-team level were limited, leading to a series of loan moves, including spells with Rochdale and FC Halifax Town, where he scored his first senior goal. He also had a short spell with the Imps in 2023-24, making appearances off the bench and scoring once in league, against Cambridge United, before being recalled in January.
Following his time at Sincil Bank, Vale moved on loan to Motherwell, where he featured across two spells, before leaving Blackburn permanently in 2025, signing his Northampton deal earlier this season after a spell with the PFA team.
