Young Player of the Season – Ivan Varfolomeev (7.24)

The Ukrainian Under 21 international has really been taken to our hearts with a series of gutsy displays, doing the work that McGrandles has also done. They’re not identical in profile, but maybe this tells us more about us than the players. As Lincoln residents and fans, maybe we value hard work, constant application and desire over everything else.
Ivan has that in abundance, but he’s also very talented, and when he winds that leg back for a strike, defenders prepare for bruises and bumps, or a bulging net. Top talent, and one to watch for the future.
Interesting that of our previous Young Player of the Season winners, three (Erhahon, Roughan, Joe Taylor) were involved in big-money moves. Hopefully, Ivan stays and impresses in the Championship.
