Joe Emery
Sheffield Wednesday youngster Joe Emery has been linked with City by Football Insider, with his contract situation putting him on the radar.
The 19-year-old centre back made seven senior appearances during the 2025/26 season, including a Championship debut against Bristol City. He is still very much a development player, but that is exactly the sort of market City have been willing to explore in recent windows.
Emery is a right-sided centre half, which makes the link interesting rather than obvious. Deji Elerewe and Tom Hamer both look like options there, while Ryler Towler and Sonny Bradley add further depth across the back line.
Still, Championship football changes the squad-building picture. City may want another young defender with upside, especially if the aim is to carry a deeper group capable of developing across the season.
Football Insider’s Lincoln links have not always been perfect, but this one at least feels like the type of deal we might investigate. It would not be a headline signing, but it could be one for the future.
