Dael Fry
Perhaps the most ambitious name linked so far is Middlesbrough captain Dael Fry, with SportsBoom crediting City with interest.
Fry is an established Championship centre back, still only 28, and has spent almost his entire career with Middlesbrough. If he does leave Teesside, there will almost certainly be plenty of interest.
From a City perspective, the appeal is obvious. We do need Championship experience, and centre back is an area where the current group still has questions to answer at the higher level.
However, this one feels difficult to see. Fry may still have Premier League ambitions, and if clubs with bigger budgets come in, City are unlikely to be at the front of the queue.
The most interesting part of the story might simply be that we are now being included in conversations like this. That, in itself, says something about how the club is viewed after last season.
