Six Players Lincoln City Have Been Linked With This Summer

Bim Pepple

Plymouth Argyle forward Bim Pepple has reportedly been monitored by City after an impressive season at Home Park.

This is one of the more interesting links because the profile makes sense. Pepple is big, mobile, powerful and productive, having scored 16 league goals and 18 in all competitions after joining Plymouth from Luton Town.

He caused City plenty of problems in February, even though we eventually won 4-1, and his partnership with Lorent Tolaj helped push Argyle close to the play-off places.

The issue is competition. Norwich City, Portsmouth and Watford have all been mentioned, while interest from MLS, Europe, Rangers and Celtic has also been reported. If that becomes a wage auction, it may quickly move away from us.

There are factors in our favour. City are clearly seen as a good place for players to develop, and the club’s stock has risen sharply after promotion. Alex Mitchell’s Plymouth connection would not hurt either.

Even so, Pepple feels like one of those players who might fit perfectly on the pitch, but less neatly on the balance sheet.
