Championship Latest: Liverpool Defender Close To Move, Millwall Target €1m Defender

Portsmouth Midfielder Completes Stateside Switch

Andre Dozzell’s Portsmouth departure has now become a reality, with The News reporting that the midfielder and his family have packed up ahead of his move to DC United.

The 27-year-old rejected a new contract at Fratton Park after agreeing a free transfer to the MLS side. Dozzell signed a two-year deal with the option of a third in Washington, bringing an end to a two-season stay on the south coast after joining Pompey from Queens Park Rangers in 2024.

His exit leaves Portsmouth with a significant gap in midfield. Dozzell made 80 appearances for the club and played 39 times last season, becoming one of John Mousinho’s most regular options as Pompey secured their Championship status. He missed a spell after the turn of the year with an ankle injury, but returned to influence the run-in, including a key late equaliser at Oxford United.

Pompey’s current midfield options include Ebou Adams, Marlon Pack and Luke Le Roux, with Mark Kosznovszky not expected back until later in the year because of a knee injury. The position is expected to be a priority when the window opens.
