Championship Latest: Liverpool Defender Close To Move, Millwall Target €1m Defender

West Brom Set To Land Liverpool Defender

West Bromwich Albion have won the race to sign Liverpool defender Carter Pinnington, with GiveMeSport reporting that the centre-back is set to join the Baggies on a permanent deal.

The 19-year-old has been involved in Liverpool first-team training at times and signed his first professional contract with the club in 2024. He has also represented England at youth level, featuring for the under-15s, under-16s and under-18s, while he is also eligible for South Africa.

West Brom are said to have beaten interest from Premier League and Championship clubs to secure the defender. The move would fit with a wider summer rebuild at The Hawthorns, where James Morrison is preparing for his first full campaign as head coach after guiding the club away from danger last season.

Albion endured a difficult Championship campaign before Morrison’s appointment helped steady them, including a 10-game unbeaten run. The club have since confirmed him on a two-year deal, and early transfer activity suggests they are looking to bring in younger players with room to develop as they try to avoid being dragged into another relegation fight.
