Over the course of the last week, we’ve been asking Stacey West readers to vote for their five favourite Lincoln City players of the 21st Century.
That’s a huge bank of players, from the tough pre-Keith years, those wonderful Alexander-inspired play-off campaigns and the six months under John Schofield where we looked unbeatable. 2008 through to 2015 were quite tough, but there were still some decent players passed through, while picking five from 2016 onwards is like trying to pick your favourite member of the Corrs: you know who isn’t in, but picking who is won’t be easy.
It seemingly wasn’t. Across a whopping 565 votes, we got 113 different players, and what was going to be a top 25 has turned into something very different. That’s why you’ve got Part One today, a written article covering numbers 100 down to 60, and another tomorrow doing 59-40. Tomorrow, Ben and Chris will take you through 40-26 on the podcast, and then next week, me and another pod member will go over the top 25.
This is numbers 100 down to 60, the players who, one way or another, impressed someone enough for them to get a vote. It’s subjective as well: I didn’t ask for the best players, I asked for your top players, and that has led to a really wide range of players.
Page one is your 100-76, just listed with images, and then we go into short bios on those just outside the Top 60.
