Blackburn Rovers And Swansea City Eye Chelsea Midfielder
Blackburn Rovers and Swansea City are both interested in signing Chelsea midfielder Kiano Dyer on loan this summer, according to TEAMtalk.
The 19-year-old has impressed in Chelsea’s academy system, particularly at Under-21 level, but is not expected to be part of the first-team picture next season. Chelsea are instead said to favour a loan move to help Dyer gain senior experience, with Championship football viewed as the next step in his development.
Dyer joined Chelsea from West Bromwich Albion’s academy in 2023 and signed a long-term contract last year, tying him to the Stamford Bridge club until 2030. That gives Chelsea scope to manage his pathway carefully, and a loan move to a competitive Championship side would offer him the chance to adapt to senior football in England.
Blackburn and Swansea are both said to be keen, with Rovers continuing to explore younger loan additions after missing out to Bolton Wanderers in the race for Liverpool’s Luca Stephenson. Dyer has already had one senior loan, but his spell with FC Volendam in the Netherlands brought only four appearances and 26 minutes of football before he returned to Chelsea in January.
Since then, he has returned to youth football at Cobham and continued to make an impression. Chelsea’s own midfield plans could also play a role, with the club linked with further additions in that area, meaning Dyer’s immediate route to senior minutes may have to come elsewhere.
